If you live in California, Connecticut, or Rhode Island, you will see a recycling fee added to your order. This fee is applied in compliance with the Mandatory Recycle Fees and The Mattress Recycling Council (MRC).
What Is the MRC and the Mandatory Recycle Fee? |
The Mandatory Recycle Fee has been put in place by some local governments partnered with the Mattress Recycling Council (MRC). The MRC is a non-profit organization established to help carry out mattress recycling programs, particularly for mattresses that are disposed of as part of a return, warranty, or due to your bed aging with time.
The MRC contracts with third parties to collect and recycle discarded mattresses, and they fund this activity through a recycling fee collected on all sales of mattresses and box springs in selected states. These laws are intended to encourage more mattress recycling, divert discarded mattresses from landfills, and reduce illegal mattress dumping.
